A Collection of Artworks and Ephemera Including a 1968 Gershwin Exhibition Poster - A collection of artworks and ephemera including a framed three-dimensional paper collage, an oil painting on board, a commemorative graphic print, and a large exhibition poster. The framed collage features multi-coloured, leaf-like paper elements arranged in a radial pattern on a white ground, housed in a light wood box frame. The oil painting on board depicts a stylised bearded male portrait in blue tones, set against a landscape with architectural ruins under a large moon. This work is inscribed to the lower right with red capital letters reading PAVLVS and a small red star symbol; it is presented in a black wooden frame. The commemorative print celebrates the 600th anniversary of Bristol, featuring the years 800 1973 and the text 600 YEARS A COUNTY BY ROYAL CHARTER above a crest showing a castle, a ship, and a Concorde aircraft. The lot also includes a large unframed exhibition poster for GERSHWIN at the Museum of the City of New York, dated May 6 through September 2 1968. The poster displays portraits of George and Ira Gershwin, musical notation for Embraceable You and Oh, Lady Be Good!, and a piano keyboard graphic. A brown cardboard mailing tube is included, bearing a Royal Mail Signed For adhesive label and a white adhesive label with the name GERSHWIN handwritten in black ink.
