A Mid-Century Philip Harris Ltd Brass Analytical Beam Balance Scale in Oak Case - A mid-century analytical beam balance scale by Philip Harris Ltd. The instrument is constructed with a polished brass main beam, featuring a central knife-edge pivot and a vertical pointer. The central pillar and base are finished in a black crinkle-effect textured paint. The scale is equipped with two suspended polished metal weighing pans and a circular dial mechanism located on the central pillar for fine adjustments. The brass beam is incised Philip Harris Ltd to the left side and 250 Gms to the right. The central dial also bears the incised name Philip Harris Ltd. The balance is housed within a solid oak and glass protective case, featuring glass panels to four sides and the top. The front of the case is fitted with a sliding sash door secured by two metal clips, and a metal levelling crank handle is positioned at the base. The case stands on three adjustable levelling feet.
