The Kabbalist Rabbi Yehuda Moshe Ptaya [1859-1942], born in Baghdad, was ordained by Rabbi Abdalla Somekh, and was the distinguished disciple of a great Kabbalist in his generation, Rabbi Yosef Chaim, the Ben Ish Chai. At the end of his life, Rabbi Ptaya immigrated to Eretz Israel, and his immense greatness became known there, and as the Nazi forces advanced almost uninterrupted toward Palestine, the Kabbalists repaired prayers, and Rommel's army was repulsed to the British army at El Alamein, thanks to his prayers. After his immigration to Jerusalem in 1926, he studied at the Kabbalist Yeshiva of Rabbi Hassade' with Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Sofer, author of "caf hahayim." He has authored books "Bethlehem Judah", "matok lanefesh" on the Idra and other books.
