COLLECTION OF MONTEFIORIANA.
1. Offprint of report published in Kol Yaakov, a London newspaper, 1842, describing the presentation of a 37.4 kilo pure silver gift to Sir Moses Montefiore by the Jews of England, Jamaica, Barbados and Gibraltar, on his return from a mission to the East. The gift presented is currently at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
2. A finely written English letter to Sir Moses Montefiore by A Y Kohn of Spitalfields,
expressing gratitude to G-d on Montefiore’s safe return from a dangerous journey. Blue paper, hand-coloured.
3. Congratulations to Sir Moses Montefiore on his 100th birthday, from his cousin Edward Levi Montefiore of Paris. English letter.
4. Letter to the Montefiore family from the British Colonial Office, signed by the Secretary of the Earl of Derby, apologising for being unable to participate in Sir Moses Montefiore’s celebration.
