RABBI SHALOM TAUBES, RABBI OF BOTOSHAN, LETTER TO THE SHOCHTIM OF HORODENKA AND TO RABBI MOSHE TEOMIM – RABBI OF HORODENKA.
Letter dated 1879 supporting the shochtim of Horodenka in stopping unauthorised shochtim operating in the town, with a few lines addressed to Rabbi Moshe Teomim, Rabbi of Horodenka, supporting his position on the issue.
Rabbi Shalom Taubes (1825-1889), son of Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke of Iasi. Rabbi of Tirgu-Frumos and Botoshan (from 1861). Author of She’ilas Shalom – two vols. Responsa.
Rabbi Moshe Teumim (1825-1888), son of Rabbi Efraim of Krisnapol and disciple of his uncle Rabbi Avraham of Buchach. Rabbi of Yavrov (1848) and Horodenka (1860). Leading halachic authority and author of Devar Moshe, Orian Telisai and other works.
