RARE! UNPUBLISHED COMPLETE MANUSCRIPT WORK, IN THE HANDWRITING OF RABBI BINYAMIN WOLF ABELESZ, RABBI OF TAB (HUNGARY), MENTIONING HIS TEACHERS, THE NODA BI’YEHUDA OF PRAGUE AND RABBI MAEIR BARBIE OF PRESSBURG.
Hadras Binyamin – complete unpublished 130-page manuscript work by Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Abelesz of Tab, Hungary, mentioning his teachers, Rabbi Yechezkel Landau (Noda Bi’Yehuda) of Prague and Rabbi Meir Barbie of Pressburg.
Inscription on fly-leaf:
‘Sefer Hadras Binyamin meharav hagaon mohoreinu Rav W’ A’ zecher tzadik vekadosh liveracha’ [Hadras Binyamin by our learned master Rabbi W’ A’ whose saintly and holy memory is a blessing]. Another inscription in a different hand reads,
‘Hasefer hanechmad hazeh chibro hagaon R. Binyamin Ze’ev ztzvk’l v’al shemo nikra Hadras Binyamin’ [This fine work was authored by R. Binyamin Ze’ev whose saintly and holy memory is a blessing, and it is named Hadras Binyamin in his memory].
Rabbi Binyamin Ze’ev Abelesz (d. 1820), studied under Rabbi Yechezkel Landau (Noda Bi’Yehuda) of Prague and Rabbi Meir Barbie of Pressburg. Appointed Rabbi of Szetschin in 1798, and later in Tapana and Tab, Hungary.
130 pp. 19 x 24 cm. Very good condition. Slight worming on some leaves. Modern binding.
