UNIQUE LETTER! RABBI BARUCH HAGER – REBBE OF VIZHNITZ, AUTHOR OF IMREI BARUCH. A LETTER WRITTEN DURING HIS FATHER’S LIFETIME - INVITATION TO THE WEDDING OF RABBI MOSHE HAGER OF SHOTZ, SENT TO RABBI SHLOMO SOFER, RABBI OF BERGEGSASZ.

An early letter from the Imrei Baruch of Vizhnitz, sent during the lifetime of his father – the Tzemach Tzadik of Vizhnitz. The letter invites Rabbi Shlomo Sofer of Beregsasz to the wedding of Rabbi Baruch’s son, Rabbi Moshe Hager (later Rebbe in Shotz) to a daughter of the Rebbe of Mezhibuzh.
The Imrei Baruch passed away at a young age, and few of his letters have survived, especially from his early years.

Rabbi Baruch Hager (1845-1893), son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vizhnitz and grandson of the Rebbe of Ruzhin. Son-in-law of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira of Zhitomir. Rabbi Baruch was greatly revered and renowned for his modesty. He required great persuasion to agree to succeed his father as Rebbe of Vizhnitz, and passed away only eight years later. Author of Imrei Baruch.

Rabbi Shlomo Sofer (1853-1930), youngest son of the Kesav Sofer of Pressburg, whose writings he published. Rabbi of Derecske (1878) and Beregsasz (1884). Publisher of Igros Sofrim and author of Chut Hameshulosh (a biography of his father, grandfather and great grandfather) as well as Torah writings.
