DANZIG ANTI AIRCRAFT BADGE.
Danzig Anti Aircraft Badge ( Danzig Flakkampfabzeichen).

Danzig, Free State. A Rare Danzig Flak Badge.
In nickel silver, die struck, non-magnetic, semi hollow, obverse presenting a detailed eagle clutching a swastika in talons, dual artillery pieces aim upwards.
Measuring circa: 39mm, 42.00mm (wingtip - wingtip) x 47.00 mm (h)
Weight: 17.31 grams.
On the reverse of the badge there are no minting or manufacturer's signature.
No clasp system and pin. Badge from the ground, from the battlefield.

The badge according to various sources says that it was established in October 1939 by Albert Forster or the commander of this unit, Major Giese in December 1939
In the 1950s, the badge was not included in the act on titles, decorations and honorary distinctions in the Federal Republic of Germany, therefore it was not subject to denazification and could be officially worn by anyone decorated.

Footnote: The example presented exhibits manufacturing characteristics and practices as the specimen on page 192 of Detlev Niemann's "Bewertungs - Katalog Deutschland 1871-1945" ("Price Guide Germany 1871-1945").
Published 2008, Hamburg.
