RABBI DAVID HOROWITZ, RABBI OF STANISLAWOW, LETTER TO RABBI SHMUEL MEIR HOLLANDER, RABBI OF AMSANA (MSZANA DOLNA), REGARDING THE REINSTATEMENT OF A DAYAN IN TCHERNOWITZ. HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER.


Letter dated 14th Shevat 1929, regarding the possible reinstatement of a Dayan in Tchernowitz who had been dismissed - sent in reply to a question posed by Rabbi Shmuel Meir Horowitz, who served as Dayan in Tchernowitz at the time. Rabbi David Horowitz has an elaborate and original signature.

Rabbi David Horowitz (1861-1934), son of Rabbi Elazar of Rohotin, renowned from a young age for his scholarship. Rabbi of Stanislawow (1904). Author of Imrei David.

Rabbi Shmuel Meir Hollander (1889-1965), son of Rabbi Nassan David of Amsana (Mszana Dolna) and son-in-law of Rabbi Shalom Hager of Stroznitz. Studied at the yeshiva of the Rebbe of Bobov, after his marriage he was appointed to succeed his father as Rabbi of Amsana, serving there until his appointment as Rabbi in Tchernowitz in 1913. After WWII he served as Rabbi of Darbani and Bucharest, before emigrating to Eretz Yisrael in 1948 and serving as Rabbi of Nevei Shaanan – Tel Aviv. Author of Shem Hacohen.
