DISPUTE BETWEEN KOSSOV KOLLEL AND SIEBENBURGEN KOLLEL IN TZEFAS! RABBI YOSEF YEHUDA STRASSBERG, DAYAN OF KEHAL CHASSIDIM – YERUSHALAYIM, LETTER TO RABBI MOSHE GRUNWALD, RABBI OF CHUST, AUTHOR OF ARUGAS HABOSEM. 1907.
Rabbi Yosef Yehuda Strassberg; letter dated Yerushalayim 1907, addressed to Rabbi Moshe Grunwald, Rabbi of Chust and author of Arugas Habosem, regarding a dispute between the Kossov Kollel and the Siebenburgen Kollel in the Holy Land. Rabbi Grunwald had written previously that as the majority of members of the Siebenburgen Kollel lived in Yerushalayim, the dispute should be decided by the Yerushalayim Beth Din. Rabbi Strassberg writes that Rabbi Grunwald had been misinformed, as in fact the majority of members of Kollel Siebenburgen live in Tzefas, and the case should therefore be brought before the Tzefas Beth Din.
Rabbi Yosef Yehuda Strassberg (1821-1911), Dayan in Kossov, emigrated to Yerushalayim in 1896 and appointed member of the chassidic Beth Din when it was established in 1901. Author of Yad Yosef.
Rabbi Moshe Grunwald (1853-1910), leading Hungarian Rabbi, Rosh Yeshiva and halachic authority. Rabbi of Humenne, Kleinwardein and Chust and adherent of the Rebbes of Belz and Sighet. Author of Arugas Habosem and other rabbinic works.
