JAMES ALEXANDER SEDDON
(1815-1880) U.S. congressman from Virginia who served as Confederate Secretary of War until just before the end of the Civil War. Rare A.L.S. on CSA War Department letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Richmond, VA. May 11, 1864. A short message ordering that a man be appointed adjutant. Tipped to piece of yellow file paper. Small tape stain at top, else fine.
