CIVIL WAR ERA SAILOR'S STEAMER POCKET WATCH
Ornate silver pocket watch once belonging to a U.S. sailor, ca. mid-19th century. One side of the case bears an engraved steamer ship, with sails, smokestack and side wheel all visible, while the reverse bears an engraved dog sitting on a hill, all atop a pebbled background. Each side also bears a metal flap closed by a hinge. One side, when opened, bears the clock face, with both hands still present, while the reverse side bears the etched maker's mark of Lutz Brothers of New York. The casing and interior bear matching serial numbers. One slight dent to the casing, lightly tarnished, else very good.
