T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Aug. 16, 1939, a quite cryptic response to a previous letter. In part: '...I am totally at a loss to make any suggestions to you. You might consider somebody like Henry Stimson, former Secretary of State, who is largely non-political...' Docketed at the upper-right in red indelible pencil. Signed in black pen at the conclusion.
