CHARLES MANSON WRITES ABOUT HIS SON
CHARLES MANSON (1934 - 2017) Drifter whose 'family' committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Superb content A.L.S. 'C. Manson' with reversed swastika across his name, 4pp. 4to., Vacaville, [n.d., ca. 1980], to a man in Pennsylvania discussing Manson's son Valentine Michael Manson, his child with Family member 'Mary Brunner', now living in Wisconsin with his mother's surname. Very lucid content referring to 'Sunstone', the name Manson gave the boy as an infant. In small part: '...I'm not sure of his address right now...& I'm not sure about his name. I named him Sunstone. His mom took him away from me cause I thought he was like a god & she wanted him to be a kid. I never had a dad or family when I was young he was like my dad mom & my soul. I aint seen him since he was 2 & Man Ill tell you that guy was awair...I never had no one until that woman gave me that sunstone he was my life - I never pushed myself on him. I'd just be with him & he'd show me things I never seen outside before...this Sunstone guy Im not even sure how old he is - I've been trying to find a way just to see how hes growing up - I dont want no one to know not even him, I don't want other kids to say that kids dad is no good. So oits got to be done with much awareness His granmom got him & shes like a big watch dog & her teeth just about big enough to scar a kid & she DON'T like me. She left her daughter run loose & the baby came out & she gave it to me & then took it back. She lied to me...My letters will never be worth anything to anyone except the people who like themselves...my mom never raised no fools - I know and so does my mom [Manson's mother died in 1973 - this letter was undoubtedly written long afterwards]...' Sold with the transmittal envelope with Manson's signature at upper-left. Manson had second thoughts about mailing it, and gave it instead to his biographer. From the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words'.
