AN INDO-PERSIAN ISLAMIC NAUTILUS SHELL POWDER FLASK
An antique Mughal period powder flask formed from a nautilus shell. The upper cylindrical part has a mother-of-pearl frame lined with geometrical fragments. Attached to the sink is a bronze suspension ring with a green velvet loop. Such vessels are also called "barutdan". Small chips, traces of use but mostly in good condition. Mugal Indian, 18th cen.
