Like G.B.Piranesi, Rossini, well know as the “Piranesi’s heir”, trained as an architect and his etchings have the same tendency to emphasize the massive structure of the Ancient Rome. He became so famous thanks to his etchings of Magnificent view, Roman landscapes, antique monuments, among which “Le antichità de' contorni di Roma ossia le più famose città del Lazio. Tivoli, Albano, Castel Gandolfo, Palestrina, Tuscolo, Cora e Ferentino”, a collection of fine large 72 plates published in Rome, 1826. • Avanzi di un Gran Salone nel piano terra della Villa di Mecenate in Tivoli From the serie “Le antichità de’ contorni di Roma”(..), Rome, 1826 by L. Rossini, a Beautiful proof with sharp details, showing Tivoli’s ruins. Signed on plate “Rossini dis. e inc.” on lower-left corner, with date and place “Roma, 1825”. In good conditions with some light marks.
