Erich Eberhard von dem Bach-Zelewski Signed Document
Nice personal letter/document sent to SS-Obergruppenfuhrer undGenral der Polizei Erich von dem Bach Zelewski in Russia 19th August 1942 from Hauptmann d.Res. Bernard Falk. The letter says :Thank you for the last letter that reached me at the front. Currently I attend a further training course for prospective staff officers in Berlin. After months of hardship on the Eastfront, this "caper life" is doing really well again. Compared to everyday life at the front, attending the course islike vacation! I have enclosed a photo with the letter that my son was happy to havesigned. Would you please him? You will easily see that it shows us when we are greeted before the gang operation in Mogilew.I wish you continued good soldier luck.Your FalkErich von dem Bach Zelewski has replied to the letter on the 29th August 1942 and says :My dear comrade FalkUnfortunately, I can only answer your lines very briefly, because a gang company means that my time is very limited. Of course, I complied with your son's request and signed the attached photo. I also wish you all the best for all your upcoming missions! It has been signed by Zelewski in his short name : von dem BachSS-Obergruppenfuhrer und General der PolizeiErich Julius Eberhard von dem Bach-Zelewski (1 March 1899 – 8 March 1972) was a high-ranking SS commander of Nazi Germany. During World War II, he was in charge of the Nazi security warfare against those designated by the regime as ideological enemies and any other persons deemed to present dangerto the Nazi rule or Wehrmacht's rear security in the occupied territories of Eastern Europe. It mostly involved atrocities against the civilian population. In 1944 he led the brutal suppression of the Warsaw Uprising. Despite his responsibility for numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity, Bach-Zelewski did not stand trial in the Nuremberg trials, andinstead appeared as a witness for the prosecution. He was later convicted for politically motivated murders committed before the war and died inprison in 1972.The document/letter is A$ size and measures 210mm x 295mm
