Guillaume Azoulay Côté Pile 1980
An original signed etching on heavy wove paper by Moroccan artist Guillaume Azoulay (1949-) titled "Côté Pile", 1980. Hand pencil signed by Azoulay lower right numbered and titled lower left. Limited edition: 280/300. Printed by Spectrum Press and likely published by the artist. Spectrum Press blind stamp/chop mark lower right. Note, the lines on the nude back have a raised three-dimensional texture. Provenance: private collection - Northampton, MA. Sheet size: 30" x 22". Image size: 14" x 11.75". Some minor toning and handling wear to the outer marginal sheet. There is one light scuff upper right in the image, right arm area (please see pictures). In overall good condition.Guillaume Azoulay, a self-taught artist, was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1949. His parents settled in Paris when Azoulay was ten and by the age of thirteen, he was sketching and selling his drawings on the streets and planning his career as an artist. As Azoulay met people from various parts of the world, his interest in traveling grew, and when he was fourteen he left home and hitchhiked across Europe and the Middle East. His desire to see and be part of the life, history, and beauty of the world took him from Copenhagen to Rome, from Lisbon to Jerusalem. Indeed, Azoulay made the world his university.
