Silver “Marrano cup” three-piece Havdalah set, Israel, 20th century.
The Marrano cup style was produced in Spain during the period of the Inquisition. These ornate cups had hidden within prohibited Judaica items that they wanted out of sight. Filigree crown, Besomim holder, rests on the inverted cup, which sits upon the filigree pedestal, candle holder.
