Rare: Sefer Tzemach David, Frankfurt am Mein 1692. Second Edition.

Tzemach David was written by R. David Ganz (1541-1613) of Prague. Contains fascinating information and interesting tales pertaining to the Jewish people from the beginning of the world’s creation until his present time in Prague during which he wrote this work. 2 volumes printed in 1; first contains the history of Jewish people, and the second contains a detailed account of the many Kings and Rulers of other nations since the beginning of time. In his introduction, he makes clear that many of the facts regarding those many Kings are derived from various sources which although important, can’t be relied upon, when they contradict the words of Chazal.

R. David Ganz (1541-1613), a native of Prague, and was a disciple of R. Moshe Isserles (ReMah) as well as R. Bezalel Lowe, known as the MaHaral of Prague.

Unique to this second edition are many additional entries which aren’t found in the first edition (Prague 1592), such as the life of R. Shmuel Eliezer Eideles (MaHarsha), R. Yeshaya Horowitz (the Shelah) and many others who were still alive during the publication of the first edition and therefore not included in the first edition.
