Classic: Sefer Shnei Luchos HaBris - Shelah, Amsterdam 1698. The “Shelah Nachas” Edition. A Beautiful Copy.

A complete copy of Sefer Shnei Luchos HaBris, published in Amsterdam in 1698. Written by leader of the generation and foremost Torah scholar R. Yeshaya HaLevi Horowitz of Frankfurt. He is commonly known as the “Shelah HaKadosh”, an acronym of his claasic magnum opus, Shnei Luchos HaBris.

This 1698 Amsterdam edition is highly sought after, particularly in Chassidic circles. In addition to it’s beautiful and pleasing layout, it was printed in the year “NaChas” - 1698, allegedly the very year in which R. Israel Ba’al Shem Tov was born. Hence the importance amongst Chassidic Jews.

Third printed edition. The first edition was printed at Amsterdam in 1648-9, second at Wilhermsdorf in 1686, and finally this third updated edition in 1698. With a beautiful, striking copper engraved title page depicting Moses and Aaron, executed by the convert Avraham bar Yaakov. Bound with: Hakdamas Sefer Vavei HaAmudim.

In overall very good condition. Isolated small worm holes seen on some pages at the inner and lower margins, not affecting text whatsoever. Printed on high-quality white paper. Bound in original hand-tooled wood and leather binding. Lacking clasps; spine repacked in contemporary ebony leather.
