LETTER BY A DISCIPLE OF THE OR HACHAIM HA’KADOSH, RABBI ELIYAHU TZARFATI OF FEZ, TO THE RABBIS OF SEFROU.
Letter of recommendation sent by Rabbi Eliyahu Tzarfati, a disciple of Rabbi Chaim Ben-Attar, author of Or Hachaim, to the Rabbis of Sefrou, Rabbi Yehoshua Abutbol, Rabbi Shlomo Abutbol and Rabbi Avraham Atziani, on behalf of R. Avraham Ben-Naim. 1790s.
Rabbi Eliyahu Tzarfati (1715-1805), born in Fez to the distinguished Tzarfati family, descended from Rashi, and studied under the great Morrocan Rabbis Rabbi Yehuda Ben-Attar, Rabbi Shmuel Elbaz and Rabbi Chaim Ben-Attar. Famous Rabbi, Dayan and Rosh Yeshiva, whose grave was frequently visited for prayers and renowned as a place of miraculous salvation.
