RARE ITEM! TUR – EVEN HA’EZER, VIENNA 1813, COPY THAT BELONGED TO THE HOLY MARTYR RABBI ISSER ULLMAN, RABBI OF ZENTA, RABBI ABBA CHIYA HIRSCH, RABBI OF SERED, AND RABBI AKIVA FISCHER, RABBI OF TET.


A rare item! Tur Even Ha’ezer Vienna 1813, that belonged to the holy martyr Rabbi Isser Ullman, Rabbi of Zenta (who was killed al Kiddush Hashem in 1849) – books belonging to him are very rare. His ownership inscription on the title page reads: Sifrei Arba’a Turim haeileh naflu li biyerusha michevod adoni avi Zekeini mori verebi Harav hamufla kevod shem toraso Rabbi Zalman Ullman ztl miTevel, hakatan Isser Ullman’.
The flyleaf contains a long inscription by Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch, Rabbi of Sered, confirming that he purchased the book from the widow of the holy martyr Rabbi Isser Ullman. Also includes a stamp of his brother-in-law Rabbi Akiva Fischer, Rabbi of Tet.

Rabbi Isser Ullman (1810-1849), Rabbi of Zenta, killed together with many other Jews in riots during the Hungarian Uprising in 1849.

Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch (d. 1893), son of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh of Bitchko. A disciple of the Chassam Sofer. Rabbi of Sered and author of Kisvei Rav Acha.

Rabbi Akiva Fischer (1818-1894). A disciple of the Chassam Sofer and son-in-law of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh of Bitchko. Rabbi of Tet and author of Ateres Akiva.
