BOSCO JOHN: (1815-1888) Don Bosco. Italian Roman Catholic Priest, Educator and Writer. He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method known as the Salesian Preventive System. Founder of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Canonized as a saint in 1934. A good D.S., `Sac. Gio Bosco´, one page, 8vo, n.p., 5th August 1878, to D. Angelo, in Italian. Signed at the base in bold purple fountain pen ink. The partially printed document, entitled ''Declaration of Acceptance between Salesian Cooperators'', acknowledges the registration of a cooperator, and states `Which consequently in the future will be able to enjoy all the favours, all the indulgences and spiritual graces granted by the Supreme Pontiff to those who are part of this association and observe its rules.´ Bearing to the verso a printed text, being the index of the regulations of the Salesian Cooperators. Uneven left edge. Accompanied by a 2 x 4 photograph card showing Bosco in a head and shoulders pose. G
