DUMAS ALEXANDRE Fils: (1824-1895) French Author and Dramatist. A very fine A.L.S., `A. Dumas´, three pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d. [1868], to Emile Deschanel, in French. Dumas refers to a volume of verses he is offering to his correspondent including some which he was looking for and states in part `It is from 1844 or 45, 23 years at least! When I shall be in Paris, next week I think, I will ship the monster to you. There are quite a number of bad things there, but there are two or three pieces, including that one, which still pleases me..´ Dumas further refers to Mr. Bertin, stating `He is a bit angry about me, I believe that I have too much sacrificed Hugo to Lamartine. We cannot please everybody, and that is yet what I have tried to do
