[BRAZIL]: A World War II date national flag of Brazil (measuring 71.5 x 50.5''), the Verde e amarela featuring a blue disc depicting a starry sky (which includes the Southern Cross) spanned by a curved band inscribed with the national motto Ordem e Progresso ('Order and Progress') within a yellow rhombus, on a green field. With the manufacturers label of Casa Patria, Rio de Janeiro, stitched to the hoist. Accompanied by a T.L.S. by J. de Sousa-Leas, Charge d'Affaires at the Brazilian Embassy, one page, 4to, Mount Street, London, 27th November 1944, to Mr. H. Fryman, Chairman of the Grimsby and District United Youth Movement, on the blind embossed stationery of the Brazilian Embassy, stating, in part, 'I have much satisfaction in sending you a flag of Brazil to add to those you already possess of the Allied Nations. I regret it will be impossible to accede to your request for the autograph of the Brazilian Ambassador, as unfortunately His Excellency is abroad on leave and will not return for some months'. Also including a partially printed oblong 4to card stating that the flag was presented to the United Nations Senior Youth Federation and that 'to the gracious courtesy of the distinguished donor of this historic and priceless gift must ever be extended the deep and sincere gratitude and thanks of all'.
