STUART DEVLIN RARE SET OF 7 SURPRISE SILVER EGGS, LONDON 1973-1979. Limited edition numbered 72 of 300.
London 1973: With bark effect textured surface, opening to reveal a sprung patinated and silver-gilt roaring hippopotamus head issuing from a silver surround with spume decoration
London 1974: With a stylised spiral bark surface, the interior with a model of a gilt kangaroo with a spring silver joey in her pouch - set on a patinated ground with bright leaves.
London 1975: A textured surface, opening to reveal two sprung butterflies enamelled in orange/red and pale/ dark blues, over an open-work dome of silver, silver-gilt and patinated flowers.
London 1976: With Chisel cut textured decoration, opening to reveal a sprung patinated Robin perched within branches feeding three chicks within a nest, with enamelled leaves.
London 1977: With dimpled textured surface, opening to reveal a sprung silver humming bird
hovering among silver gilt rushes and stems mounted with cultured pearls, all on a polished silver ground.
London 1978: The matted surface with Stylised Flower Heads, the interior with a silver-gilt frog, leaping from a sprung green enamelled lily pad. Another smaller Lily pad and to the fore, all over a green enamelled pond.
London 1979: With all-over deep incised linear sections, opening to reveal a silver-gilt turtle with moving head and feet. Patinated rocks and red-enamelled spray of flowers, on a green enamelled ground.
