Painting measures 34.5 x 33. 4 drawing papers measure 11 x 14.Born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1948, he began drawing as a young boy and kept drawing and painting through his troubled youth, though he spent much time in reform schools and prisons. During his confinement at Auburn prison, he taught art to his fellow inmates having taught himself by studying magazines and books in the prison library.In 1977 a New York television station was sent to cover a group show at the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Art and Cultural Center in Brooklyn and singled him out for a special segment. From then on his work was shown in galleries throughout the U.S.
