Attributed To Agnolo di Polo dei Vetri 1470-1528 Terra Cotta Bust Of Saint Luke. St. Luke, also called Saint Luke the Evangelist, (flourished 1st century ce; feast day October 18), in Christian tradition, the author of the Gospel According to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, a companion of St. Paul the Apostle, and the most literary of the New Testament writers. St. Luke is believed to be the author of the Gospel that bears his name as well as of the Acts of the Apostles. According to Eusebius, he was probably born in Antioch , Syria of a prosperous Greek family and was trained as a physician. Measure 15.5" X 13.5" X 6". This, and many lots forthcoming were found at the massive central Florida estate of a true antiquarian who amassed his magnificent collection over a lifetime spent in global travel.
