A Classic Kabbalah Work: Sefer Shefa Tal, Hanau 1612. First Edition. The Personal Copy of R. Chaim Zvi Manheimer.

A complete copy of Sefer Shefa Tal, printed in Hanau in 1612. Authored by R. Sheftal HaLevi Horowitz of Prague (1590-1660). This work is considered one of the fundamental Kabbalistic guides, and it is often used as an introduction to Kabbalistic teachings. The author was a cousin to the famed R. Yeshaya HaLevi Horowitz - The Shelah HaKadosh. His father R. Avraham, and the author’s father R. Akiva were brothers.

Printed with the approbations of leading Torah scholars, including that of the Shelah HaKadosh and R. Efrayim Luntschitz - the Klei Yakar, who both praise this work immensely. Interestingly, the preface to this work was written by R. Feivel, the son-in-law of the Shelah Hakadosh. This is perhaps the only known written word from R. Feivel known to us.

The personal copy of R. Chaim Zvi Manheimer (1814-1866), author of Ein Habdolach. R. Manheimer was a foremost disciple of the Chasam Sofer, and served as Rabbi of Ungvar. He was known as the leading Torah scholar of Hungarian Jewry in the 19th century. His personal autograph, as well as his classic “Manheimer” signature, is seen on the title page.

A short marginal gloss in his handwriting is seen on pp. 49.

Various striking woodcuts and Kabbalistic diagrams seen on many leaves.

In overall very good condition; light water stains on some pages. Pages 4-5 bound out of order. A small marginal repair is seen on pp. 1, with no loss of text.

[10], 87, 89-94 pp.

Vinograd, Hanau 13.

Stefansky Hebrew Classics 360.
