Rare: Sefer Toldos Adam V’Chava – Rabbeinu Yerucham, Venice 1553. Bound With: Sefer Meisharim, Venice 1553.

A complete copy of the Venice edition of Sefer Toldos Adam V’Chava, authored by Rabbeinu Yerucham. Venice 1553. Also bound with Sefer Meisharim, which is essentially the same Halachik commentary, but on monetary matters. Toldos Adam V’Chavah however deals with day-to-day Halachik issues which arise from the moment a person is born until the day he dies. Hence its name Adam, and Chava for the woman. With a separate title page for each work.

Interestingly, this edition was printed in Venice in 1553, which was the year an edict was issued and the Talmud was burned. Many are of the opinion that no Hebrew books were printed in Venice from 1553 until 1562. As such, this edition – printed in Venice in 1552/1553 – is seemingly far more scarce and uncommon than the first Constantinople edition. See also: Mehlman, Ginzei Yisroel (742,743) who maintains this opinion.

18th century marginal glosses seen on some leaves.

In overall good condition, with light water stains seen on some pages. First title page partially restored, not affecting text. Ancient ownership inscriptions seen on title pages.

[1], 238; [1], 104 pp.
