Rare: Sefer Toras Chaim – Volume II – Krakow 1634. First Edition.

A complete copy of Sefer Toras Chaim, the classic commentary on various Masechtos of Shas. Authored by R. Avraham Chaim Schor Rabbi of Belz (d. 1632). He was a disciple of R. Moshe Isserles (the Rema), and the Rebbe of the Bach. His brother was R. Efrayim Zalman Schor, author of the famed work “Tevuos Shor”. His father-in-law was R. Avraham Meisels of Krakow, who was the Mechutan of the Rema. This commentary has been a fundamental and classic work ever since it was published.

Printed in two volumes, this one in 1634 - two years after the author’s death. Contains novella to Eiruvin, Sanhedrin, Shavuos, Avodah Zarah, Chullin and Pesachim. The first volume was printed in Lublin in 1624 during the author’s lifetime (see previous lot).

Scarce. Rarely is this work seen at auction.

In overall very good condition. Title page partly trimmed. Occasional scholarly marginal glosses seen on some pages. Edges painted green. Bound in a new, ornate leather binding.

Cataloger's note: This volume comes from a bound set, consisting of both volumes, each printed separately, but bound in identical bindings. This volume is marked as Volume II on the book’s spine. See previous lot for the completion of the set.
