Rare - Minhelet HaAm Stamps Sheet with Red Mail Stamps (TAR), Tel Aviv, 1948.
Sheet includes 10 Jewish National Fund (KKL) stamps with red "Mail" (Hebrew) stamp.
During 1948 the Mandatory Authorities ceased all mail services in Israel.
Minhelet HaAm (People's Administration) organized to restart the mail serviced using the Jewish workers of the Mandatory mail services.
They have decided to take the remaining stock of the Jewish National Fund stamps (originally made to collect money and not for mail usage) and to stamp each "Doar" (Hebrew for Mail).
The stamping was done manually by volunteers (mainly high school students) and made in the postal offices of Tel-Aviv and Haifa.
