Kovetz Shiurim. First Edition. Baranovitch 1937. Rare.
A collection of 160 shiurim of R. Elchonon Wasserman on tractates; Pesachim, Beitzah, Bava Basra, Kesubos, and Kidushin, as well as five shmuesen. This is one of the most popular works studied throughout the Yeshiva world.
R. Elchonon Bunim Wasserman (1874-1941), studied at the Telshe Yeshiva under R. Lazer Gordon and R. Shimon Shkop, and later became a close disciple of R. Chaim Soloveitchik and the Chofetz Chaim. As Rosh Yeshiva in Baranovitch he was renowned for his clear and penetrating shiurim which attracted many students. His seforim, Kovetz Shiurim, Kovetz He’oros and Kovetz Ma’amorim are widely studied in Yeshivos. Additionally, he was extensively involved in communal matters and was very active in the Agudas Yisroel movement.
Originally, each of these shiurim were printed on 2 pages (4 sides) and were distributed in the Yeshiva. Once complete, the Yeshiva published 160 shiurim, as well as some shmuesen, in one volume titled Kovetz Shiurim with the proceeds benefitting the Yeshiva. There are variations amongst known copies. This copy does not include the eulogy on the Chafetz Chaim.
