Rabbi Ya'akov Meir (1856 - 1939) was the first Rishon LeZion and the first Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel in the framework of the Chief Rabbinate.
Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog (1888-1959) was the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the Land of Israel in 1936, and later of the State of Israel until his death. Before that, he was Chief Rabbi of Ireland Jewry. Recipient of the Israel Prize for Torah Literature in 1958.
