Rabbi Yisrael Porat (1886-1974) was a Jerusalem talmid hakham, a disciple of R. Kook, the only Ashkenazic rabbi ever offered to serve as the sage of Bashi, who served for about 50 years as a central rabbi in Cleveland , Ohio, author of "Introduction to the Talmud".
