Miniature Torah Ark and Torah Scroll
Torah Ark with a Torah scroll inside, both miniature. [Made by Libreria Kaplansky, Buenos Aires, 1920s-1930.].
Wood; fabric; paper.
A Torah Ark shaped as the Tablets of the Law. On the front appear illustrations in color of a Menorah, Star of David and the Ten Commandments – illustrated and colored by hand (some illustrations are etched into the wood). When opened, decorations of lions and plants can be seen on the inner side of the doors as well as Stars of David. The inner part is padded with red fabric. Inside the Ark is a printed Torah Scroll, rolled on two “Atzei Chaim” (made of wood) and placed inside a decorated fabric Torah Mantle. The Torah Scroll is tied with a golden string.
Ark: height: 25 cm, width: 14 cm. Scroll: 17 cm (incl. “Atzei Chaim”). Overall good condition. Minor damages and spotting. Flakings on reverse.
