Challah Cover - Western Wall and “Ohel Moshe” Yeshivah
Challah cover. Jerusalem, [ca.1920s].
Embroidered silk.
Challah cover with verses and ornamentations. Western Wall with three cypresses appears in the center, within a circle, inscribed (Hebrew) “Western Wall”. Below this image appear Polish-style candlesticks with four oil fonts, next to them are peacocks and two small lamps. Verses, in Hebrew, are embroidered in a variety of colors, mainly pink and orange. Fringes on margins.
The “Mazkeret Moshe” Yeshivah mentioned in the inscription is most probably the Yeshivah founded in 1914 in Diskin Court, in the Moslem quarter.
