An Antique Chinese Orange Ground Porcelain Bowl
An Antique Chinese Orange Ground and White Floral Porcelain Bowl with Provenance. Rich floral design on the inside with geometrical designs on the rim. The underside has floral designs - one in every cardinal direction. Underside with red underglaze TONGZHI mark. Ca. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. Size 3 1/4 X 3 1/4. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
