An Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Cup/Bowl with Provenance. Decorated with flowers and Chinese Letters in white medallions – one in every cardinal direction. Geometrical patterns at the rim and base. Ca. Early 20th Century. Size h: 2 1/4 in., d: 4 3/4 in. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
