Antique Chinese Enamel Custom Jewelry
Antique Chinese Enamel Very Rare Custom Jewelry. Set of 14 Pieces including Earings, Hair Pieces, Pendants, Brooches. Featuring animal and floral themes, the pieces are made from gilded turquoise enamel over silver metal (was not tested for silver) with imitation pearls, beads and semi-precious stones. Ca. Early 1900's. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
