Exceptional Japanese cabinet in lacquered and gilded wood, Edo period (1603 - 1868), late 17th century
Rare Japanese cabinet in lacquered wood and gilded filigree, pieces of this type and category are not abundant in Spain, being more common to see them in the courts of northern Europe and highly appreciated, brought by the British East India Company or the Company of the Indies Dutch, it is common to find them in the main European palaces such as Windsor, Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace or the Royal Palace of Amsterdam. Normally only the cabinet was exported to Europe and it is common to see them with baroque feet in gilded wood in the European style. Compared pieces: Japanese lacquer cabinet, Royal Collection Trust, Windsor Palace, inventory number 35273, another similar cabinet in St. James's palace, inventory number 35274.
