The book is a convoy of two apocryphal works very popular among the Old Believers: "The Passion of Christ"
The Passion of the Christ is an apocryphal Old Believer collection that tells about the last days of the earthly life of Jesus Christ, his crucifixion, Resurrection and descent into hell. The compilation of the collection dates back to the 17th century. The collection is based on several apocryphal tales. Currently, the collection continues to be read among the Old Believers during Great Lent and especially Holy Week.

At present, the collection continues to be read among the Old Believers during the days of Great Lent and especially Passion Week. Compilation of the collection dates back to the 17th century, it became widespread among the Old Believers (it occupies a significant place among the publications of the Old Believer printing houses in Lviv, Pochaev, Suprasl in the 18th-19th centuries).
The collection is based on several apocryphal tales. For example, the basis of the story about the descent of Christ into hell and the extermination of the righteous is taken from the so-called "Gospel of Nicodemus" (II century). In addition to The Passion of Christ, this legend became the source of some liturgical texts, for example, the Great Saturday service and icon-painting scenes.
It usually consists of 32 chapters. In the book, a special place is occupied by episodes that are almost not touched upon in the canonical Gospels. Among them it is worth noting:
• “On the Appointment of Christ's Friend Lazar as a Bishop in the Kiteysky City”;
• “On the announcement of our Lord Jesus Christ to his most pure mother, as if she goes to a free passion, and on her assignment to the Myrrh-Bearing Women”
• “On the Resurrection of Christ and His Descent into Hell”,
• “On the Coming from Jerusalem to Rome to Caesar Martha, Mary”
• "On repentance and suffering Pilatov"
• "On the death of the high priests Anna and Caiaphas."
The book "The Passion of Christ" in Old Church Slavonic, leather-bound with remnants of metal locks. Printed in the Pochaev Monastery (Western Ukraine) until 1890.
According to legend, it was founded by the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, who fled from the invasion of the Tatars in 1240. The first chronicle mention dates back to 1527. Since 1730, the Pochaev printing house operated in the monastery, publishing many books. Among them were the "Passion of the Christ", which occupied a large place in Russian manuscript literature and spiritual poetry.

The compilation of the book dates back to the 17th century, subsequently it was rewritten many times and often decorated with miniatures or pasted engravings. This book was widely used among the Old Believers, in the publications of the Old Believer printing houses at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries (in Lvov, Pochaev, Suprasl, etc.), this book occupies a significant place.
The Pochaev printing house was one of the centers of book printing, founded back in the 17th century by the rector of the Holy Dormition Monastery, Job Pochaevsky.
Hegumen Job was a zealous distributor of not only liturgical books, but also writings aimed at defending Orthodox truths and explaining Catholic deviations from them. Over the years of the complex history of the Pochaev Monastery, its printing house printed books of various directions - Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Old Believer - in Church Slavonic, Ukrainian, Polish, Latin, Russian and Greek. The publications of the printing house, which operated intermittently until 1918, were widely known in Russia.

• «О поставлении друга Христова Лазаря архиереем в Китейский град»;
