Wonderful letters with special references of Maran the holy Rav of Satmar to the Segulah of the Mandrake for offspring - 1933.

The letters were sent to the son-in-law of the Rav of Satmar the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa of Semihali - Sasov and to the Meshamesh and confidante of the holy Rav Rabbi Yoel of Satmar the Chassid Rav Rabbi Sheraga Feibush Ashkenazi. The letters include reference by the holy Rav of Satmar refers, for the first time, to the Segulah of the Mandrake for offspring. We do not know of another place where the Rav of Satmar referred to matters of Segulos and amulets.

The letters were written by the rabbinic Chassid Rabbi Mendel Friedman of Jerusalem who owned a renowned bookstore and a business for the Etrogim of the Land of Israel.

The letters deal with payment to a 'Litvak' Jew, as Rabbi Mendel Friedman refers to him, who brought the Rav of Satmar's son-in-law - the future Rabbi of Sasov who was them Av Beis Din of Semihali - Mandrake as a Segulah for offspring.

The Rav of Semihali took the Mandrake to Hungary and the giver requested that he be paid for each and every month the Mandrake remained there.

The payments by the holy Rav of Satmar, then in Eretz Yisroel, were arranged by his loyal representative the Chassid Rabbi Nachman Yosef Willhelm, who is mentioned in these letters.

The important part of the letter: Rabbi Mendel Friedman writes that the holy Rav of Satmar sent a telegram to Rabbi Nachman Yosef Willhelm informing him that the Mandrake needs to remain in Hungary six additional months and he will pay an additional pound for it.

This is a most uncommon reference by the holy Rav of Satmar to matters of Segulos and amulets. It is common knowledge that he usually did not openly deal with such matters.

[2] small papers, each of them 11X8.5 cm. Both handwritten by Rabbi Mendel Friedman, Originally torn leaves. On the reverse side, addresses, notations and a short addition to the letter. Very good condition.
