Sefer Ohel Moed on synonyms, by Shlomo ben Avraham of Urbino. Marco Antonio Giustiniani, Venice, [1548]. First and rare edition. With Rabbi Chananya Cohen's signature. 


[1], 118 leaves, 18 cm. Without the leaf of the foreword. Owner's notation and signatures on the flyleaf, on the title page and on the last leaf, including the signature of "the youngest of the Cohanim ... Chananya Cohen". 


Rabbi Chananya Elchonon Chai Cohen (1751-1843) studied Torah in Reggio and was one of the disciples of the kabbalist, writer and poet, Rav in Modena and Reggio and several other Italian cities, author of Sefer Zerah Shimshon, Rabbi Shimshon Chaim Nachmani. Rabbi Chananya headed the Talmud Torah of his city, worked as an educator, developing a new educational method for gradual and clear teaching. Authored Sifrei Mussar, grammar books and books of teaching Mishna and Gemore: Reshis Lekach (1800), Chanoch LaNa'ar (1804), Sha'arei Talmud (1811), Ma'aneh lashon (1812), and Safah Achas (1822). In addition, he published His Rav's book of poetry, Korban Ktores (1812). In his old age, he moved to serve as a Rav in Florence. 


Elegant leather binding, minor stains, one leaf is missing [-the leaf with the foreword], good condition.
