Signed Autograph! Lengthy Halachic Responsum by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger! Variations Compared to the Printed Version!
Signed autograph! Lengthy Halachic Responsum by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger! Variations compared to the printed version!
Lengthy, detailed halachic responsum handwritten by the famed holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger, the son of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, and with his handwritten signature, Posen, 1841.
This responsum was handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger: הק' ש. אייגר S.Eiger and sent to his in-law, the Dayan of Berlin Rabbi Elchonon Rosenstein.
The responsum ends with the words of blessing: הנני ידידו דורש שלומו ומברכו בכל טוב'.
The responsum was printed with many important variations in Shut Shlomo Eiger, Yoreh Deah section, Siman 31. There, a much more detailed version was printed. This letter is apparently an outline only, which was then expanded in the book.
At the beginning of the leaf, the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger wrote 'Posen' since it was sent from the city where he served as Rav, succeeding his late father Rabbi Akiva Eiger, in 1841 - his first year as Rav there, his appointment generating heated controversy.
The importance of this autograph derives from the fact that it was handwritten and signed by him and the many variations compared to the printed version.
The great Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Eiger [1777-1852] the son and successor of his great father the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger. The Rav of Posen and Kalisch. His books Shut Rabbi Shlomo Eiger, Sefer haIkarim and Gilayon Maharsha are inalienable assets.
[1] autograph. Restoration of wear to the edges, somewhat affecting the text and the signature. Good condition.
