Sefer Sha’arei Dura, also called Issur Ve’Heter, by Rabeinu Yitzchak ben Rav Meir Halevi. Press of Eliezer ben Yaakov Roblinker and David ben Moshe. Zasław Maidan, 1807. This edition includes, for the first time, the Maharshal’s glosses and an approbation by Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev.
Sefer Sha’arei dura – a fundamental composition of the laws of allowed and forbidden foods and laws of purity, written by Rabbi Yitzchak, son of Rabbi Meir Halevi from the city of Dura, during the 13th century. The Sefer was the subject of many commentaries, written by the leading Poskim of the generations. Press of Eliezer ben Yaakov Roblinker and David ben Moshe. Zasław Maidan, 1807. Rare.
With stamps of ‘The Yeshiva Gedola, Talmud Torah, and Soup pantry of Me’ah She’arim in the holy city of Yerushalayim may she be rebuilt swiftly’, and a damaged signature on the title page showing just a title with no name.
On the title page the publishers note that in this edition they have added the glosses of the Maharshal, which had so far been printed separately “and we were aroused by the famous Gaon, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, Av Beis Din of Berditchev that it is a good idea to connect sister to sister so that all the innovations in halacha and all commentaries will stick together”.
