המחבר בעל ה'חיי אדם' מפטר בשנת תקפ"א, והוא השאיר תיקונים והוספות בכתב יד לספר. "בדף ב' מופיע שטר מכירה של בני החיי אדם זלה"ה בו הם כותבים על צוואת אביהם
"אשר צווה לפני מותו לאמור שלא יודפס שום ספר מחבוריו כ"א בהגהות הנוספות אשר מוגה בכ"י בגליון חיבוריו".
