Two American mantel clocks including a William L. Gilbert architectural mantel clock and a tambour mantel clock - This lot consists of two early 20th-century American mantel clocks. The first is an architectural style mantel clock with a black finished wood case, featuring incised foliate decoration to the lower section and four yellow celluloid faux-columns with Corinthian-style capitals. The case is further embellished with cast metal decorative side ornaments and scroll feet. The circular aged paper dial has black Arabic numerals and a brass bezel. Above the 12 o'clock position are the letters S and F, and a central logo consisting of a G inside a diamond is located above the six. Below the arbor, the dial is printed MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BY THE WM. L. GILBERT CLOCK CO., WINSTED, CONN. U.S.A. The clock has a mechanical twin-train movement with two winding holes on the dial face. The second item is a tambour or humpback mantel clock with a dark wood veneer case featuring a curved top and a beaded lower edge. The gilt-finished metal dial has black Arabic numerals and is protected by a domed glass door in a brass bezel. This clock has a single winding hole. An orange adhesive price sticker reading 199 is applied to the top of the case, and a white adhesive sticker marked with the number 7 is affixed to the dial glass.
