Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Silver-Plated Tea
A Collection of Silver-Plated Tea and Coffee Service Vessels - A collection of six silver-plated holloware vessels, comprising two lidded pots, two double-handled open vessels, and two single-handled jugs. Each piece is constructed with a cylindrical body and simple C-scroll handles, characteristic of mid-20th-century commercial or hotel-ware design. The lidded pots feature hinged covers with spherical finials and curved spouts. The open vessels are fitted with two handles, and the smaller jugs are equipped with a single handle and a pinched pouring spout. The items are finished in a reflective silver plate. A group of three or four small, impressed marks in rectangular cartouches is visible on the lower body or base of the vessels; however, the characters within these marks are not legible and do not spell out a maker's name. An orange adhesive price sticker is present on the lid of one pot, and a white adhesive label with the handwritten number 25 is present on the lid of the second pot. The interiors of the vessels reveal a yellow-toned base metal, suggesting the silver is plated over brass or nickel silver.
